The Third Festival of Job Hunting
Author: Nick

Yay, I’m back! Yessiree, this is Punny Money’s fabulous host, Nick, and I’m back from a relaxing not-so-insane holiday weekend to bring you the third edition of the Festival of Job Hunting. Unfortunately it looks like the rest of the job hunting blogosphere is still on vacation, so this week’s Festival is a bit sparse.
So congratulations to Tim MMF from MyMoneyForest for being the only person cool enough to bring his job-hunting tale to the Festival.
1. The Type Of Job I Can Look Forward To
Tim MMF is looking into the jobs that await him after graduation. His professor forwarded him several possibilities, but it’s the position of Legislative Liaison/Analyst that really grabbed his attention.
This is the type of job I’ll be looking for after graduation unless I go on to graduate school. In the long run, I’d like to be a VP for a major corporation in charge of their government relations/public policy which is a job that can pay as high as $750,000 per year. Some of the VP positions pay less but offer stock options as well.
Nick says…
I think I went with the wrong major. But it sounds like Tim MMF is right where he wants to be. He’s aiming high and already thinking about the big picture, though this entry-level position he talks about is nothing to belittle. All you kids in college should follow Tim MMF’s lead from day one; don’t just think about your first job out of school, but plan for the long run, too.
Be sure to check out the home of the Festival of Job Hunting, Find a New Job, for news of upcoming editions and hosts. For everyone who has a job and had the day off today, have a great (and abbreviated!) work week. And for those still hunting for their next job, I wish you the best of luck.

I’m not sure what type of job will await you but if you’re the least bit concerned, check out http://www.rightfitresumes.com. You’ll find a resume tips and advice as well as a collective list of websites to aid in your job search.
I would suggest not leaving college without a job. Most colleges mandate that you get an intern before graduating. In this they may have a list of companies that they work with. Others usually leave it up to the student and then gives a good reference to the employer. Still there are corporations who hold job fairs and specific colleges throughout the US. It will never be easier to get a job, so make sure that you start looking for a job/intern that summer before your senior year.

If I might —perhaps you should consider adding a few images. I don’t mean to disrespect what you’ve said ; its very enlightening, indeed. However, I think would respond to it more positively if they could be something tangible to your ideas
