In each post of this series, I’ll share another bit of advice that will help you better plan and enjoy your time off.

• Be unreachable during your vacation. The most relaxing and enjoyable vacations are those where you know nobody can find you and work can’t bother you with whatever major crisis has developed since you left. If you can manage this sort of retreat, then take it without hesitation. Even if you’re just hanging around your home during your time off, say that you’ll be unreachable and use your Caller ID or answering machine to screen calls for co-workers.

Better yet, buy a private island and vacation there.
