Punny Poll #13: Christmas in September
Author: Nick
Category: Money
Topics: gifts, happiness, poll, work
I don’t understand how you all manage to get up every morning! According to last week’s Punny Poll, 58% of you do not like your jobs. And if you consider that my readers are likely happier than your typical bunch of folks, then the real percentage of Americans unhappy with their 9-to-5 is probably more like 97%, possibly much higher.
Summer is almost over, and you know what that means: Christmas is right around the corner! Okay, so it’s still nearly four months until the holidays, but that won’t stop advertisers from hammering you with yuletide glee from now until then. Fortunately you’re all smart shoppers and will keep your eyes out for great gift deals whether they come along on January 1st or December 24th. Or are you?

I think you needed a “I don’t do the Christmas shopping” option on this poll too. I’m surprised more people don’t start earlier though.

I have ongoing boxes of gifts I keep as I find things I know family members will appreciate. Usually though, I do a huge “black Friday” shopping spree to finish it all off. Then I have only holiday baking, enjoying the season, and the occasional stocking stuffer to buy.
This being said- I budget about $500 for 3 kids (ages 1, 4, 7), 3 nephews (ages 4, 4, 7), and 10 adult family members. I squeeze every last drop out of my budget! And- gifts are supplemented by some freebies hubby gets working for an auction firm at holiday time. If we had to pay for everything- I would guess it would more than double our costs for the holidays.
