Kmart Gives Finger to Black Friday, Wants You To Shop Them On Brown Thursday Instead

As if the hype around Black Friday wasn’t enough, some retailers are trying to get the jump on their competition by going against the time-honored tradition of the day-after-Thanksgiving human stampedes. As you’ll see on numerous Black Friday websites, this year’s Kmart flyer has been leaked and contains many noteworthy deals:
- Magellan Maestro 3100 Navigation System - $129.99
- Several Men’s shirts and fleeces - $9.99 and under
- Polaroid 8MP Digital Camera - $79.99
The only caveat is that you’ll have to drag yourself into Kmart at 7am on Thanksgiving Day (or “Brown Thursday” as the retailers call it) to snag these items.
Of course, you’re also free to hit up Best Buy and Circuit City the day after for a more traditional Black Friday event. Check out some of the awesome deals they’re offering this year:

Indeed, BB and CC’s BF offerings are total BS this year. Punny Money is officially awarding the Black Friday 2007 victory to Kmart.

I agree BB and CC are terrible this year wit their BF deals. I am not even considering them on my list of good stuff for black friday.

I think it would be too difficult to shop on thanksgiving morning with everything that goes on. Besides, isn’t it fun to rush out to the mall with the huge crowds the next day?

All I do on Thanksgiving is drive to my parents’ house in the afternoon. I’ll be at Kmart and back again by 8am! Woosh!

Before you know it, every day will be some stupid retail “shopping discount” day.

K-Mart. Sears? S-Mart?
Within a mere few miles our local K-Mart competes with a Super Wal-Mart, Target, Lowes, Hone Depot, several super-type grocery stores, etc.
Yet, on the whole, from the goodies I peek at….. K-Mart has consistently higher prices….
Admittedly it’s a subjective opinion based on general observation and relying upon the memory of a cootish-like old coot whose mental impairments are typical of one of the advanced age of four score minus 29.
How K-Mart stays in business is beyond my ken.
I, the Mighty Obbop, star of neither stage nor screen, will be surprised if K-Mart is still vending wares after two or three years have crept by. Or, at the least, cut waaaaaay back, shutting down a buncha’ stores such as the local one with very few folks wandering the pert’ near empty aisles.
