Gas Price Sign #4 Lettering Shortage Continues

There’s no denying it anymore. What I thought was a fictionalized story of gas stations running out of number fours for their price signs has turned into a horribly hilarious reality.
Reader Mike sends in this photo snapped at a Sam’s Club fueling station:

Maybe if Sam’s took a lesson from its own stores and bought the fours in bulk, they wouldn’t have this problem.

This does not make much sense. I am sure gas was $3.44 at some point. What happened to the 4’s?

so what happened to all the “4s” they used when gas was 3.14, 3.24, and 3.34/ gallon?

Gas prices were never 3.4X or 3.X4. You’re all imagining things.
And if you think the four shortage is bad, wait until we hit the fives…

Gas price sub digits almost always follow odd numbers, 3.x5, 3.x7, or 3.x9. As far as if it was 3.49, I hadn’t noticed since I was more concerned about the $80 tank fillup.

I’ve noticed practically all the stations on my way to work are selling it for $3.99 and have been all week. Perhaps there are no 4’s. Either that, or nobody wants to be the first to break the barrier.

This post made me laugh and cry at the same time. Laugh because yes, Sam’s should follow their own advice… and cry, because it will soon be running out of 5’s… and I really don’t want to feel trapped in my home anymore than I already do!

LOL. I do have a suggestion….maybe they should bring the gas prices down to $3.00 instead of $4.00 and they wouldn’t have this problem? I’m amazed how much gas prices have soard in Connecticut. It’s sickening! I’ll be lucky if I can get to and from work this week with the little money I have to spend.

I think Sam’s Club was victim of a crime ring that’s been stealing gas station 4’s at night and reselling them by day to other gas stations. Rumor has it they got a jump on the competition becasue they read Punny Money for inspiration.

So as you see …. Punny is the root of all this trouble with 4’s.
