You're definitely someone who should be driving a mini-van, Etz; but I work with plenty of single people with no children (not even a dog or cat!) who drive the biggest SUV they can find, will always drive the biggest SUV they can find, and will always complain about gas prices.

If nothing else, gas prices might keep people from having more kids so they don't need the big vehicle in the first place!

We'll be cutting back on some of our traveling, but for us a big van is what works. With 4 kids ages 9-14, traveling, even in a mini-van, just isn't worth the savings in gas. There is a cost for the additional stress of being packed into a smaller vehicle.

People are NUTS aren't they? I didn't read the article yet, but I bet the number of carpools isn't increasing dramatically either, because people want to be free to stop whenever they want on the way home for errands etc. . .
