Five Things You Don’t Know About Nick

say yer prayersI’m a Sunday school teacher. It’s my way of making up for what goes on Saturday nights!

I have watched over 15 days worth of anime. Here’s my complete list.

no-nick airlines is ready for take-offNo planes for Nick. I haven’t been on an airplane since I was five years old. But I think I have to go on one next summer for a conference. Ironically, I work in air traffic control software.

I was once mistaken for a teacher in school… when I was in seventh grade. Yup, I’ve always been pretty darn tall.

i am going to eat this icon once it finishes loading CHOMPMy favorite food is meat. Mmm, meat. Yummy.

And there you have it! As you can see, I’m just your run-of-the-mill carnivorous, cartoon-loving, kainolophobic Catholic.

Hm. Maryland. Air Traffic Control.

Do you work for a certain defense company in Rockville?

to add to your anime list (which is good, btw):

kaze no tani no nausicaa (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind)
Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi (Spirited Away)

Both by Miyazaki (maker of Princess Mononoke)… the former = mid-80′s, beautiful story, recently released on dvd… some of the fight scenes can seem mild (compared to other examples), but the artwork and world conceived = visually arresting. The latter, incredible… slow-paced… it blows my mind that one guy comes up with such rich worlds, confounding in how unique they are (but have coherent/familiar they can seem).

hope you enjoy. . . your blog is an entertaining read

Binary Dollar — maybe! :)

cw — I’ve actually seen Spirited Away but not Nausicaa. I either really like or really dislike all of Miyazaki’s stuff. For example, I love Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away, but I had to force myself to finish Howl’s Moving Castle. But I’ll be sure to check out Nausicaa; thanks for the recommendation!

I haven’t seen Howl’s, but Nausicaa is great! I find Totoro insufferable in English and will only watch it in Japanese with subtitles. Also, check out Porco Rosso if you like old classic wartime films. I just love the way she says ‘Oh Porco!’ with the rolling R’s….

No Video Girl Ai? No Orange Road? (All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku is pretty funny though!) No Ghost In The Shell? How could you? Where’s Robotech? Starblazers? Astroboy?

And HA! I have learned SIX things about you. Catholic and Sunday School are two different things. :-)

Thanks for playing! I’m sure you go to Otaku or whatever that con is in Charm City my friends attend.

If the term “FS21″ is in your daily vocabulary, then I have learned an additional thing about you. :)

Actually, shoot me an email if that’s the case.

But I knew 2 of those already. Now I need 2 more new things that I didn’t know already.

I think I calculated how many hours of movies I watched based on the movies I ranked in Netflix/Blockbuster. At an average of 1.75 hours per movie, I watched about 51 days of movies in my life.

And that doesn’t count made for tv movies or tv in general!

heh this is so funny. it feels like dejavu. i was memed today on my blog and answered the exact same question. you can go to http://stagingtipsandmore.blog.com/ to read mine ;)

to add on to the previous posts… basically all ghibili studio animes are excellent, which include miyazaki ones. i really love spirit away. it’s a great visual story. although i find the ending a little tame for me.

happy holidays!
