An opinion set forth in Christian Science Monitor shows its bias. He blatantly forgets that Hitler was a christian until his death and confirms it several times, and then he goes on skipping facts and twisting words. His opinion is that atheists often have no moral. No ethics. And us atheists hear this almost every day. Thing is, there is no need for religion to achieve high morals and ethics in people, and that scares the religious. This has been one of their selling points.

The point is too many people gets violent in the name of some religion. Look at the conflict in Ireland and many countries in Africa, for instance, where the war IS about religion.

There is a difference between going to war in the name of religion, and just going to war while you happen to belong to a religion. Communism is atheistic, but atheism is not the reason why the communist despots kill. Hitler did not kill because of his christianity, as far as I know.

Japan actually does have a car parking system that has eliminated most parking lots. When you drive up to one of their garages, the guy pulls it into a small parking pad, gets out, and then rotates the car on what looks like a compact ferris wheel. Using this vertical space keeps them from needing the thousands of miles of parking lots that we need. I still don't understand why no one here has thought to bring that technology to out cities.

I would point out that the number of people killed by people acting based on ideologies featuring a lack of religion (most notably totalitarian Communism) in the last 3-4 decades exceeds by an order of magnitude the number of people killed by people acting in the name of religion in the last 2000 years.

See this article: http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/1121/p09s01-coop.html

Bad things can be done in the name of a good thing, but that is never a reason to eliminate that good thing, which is, in this case, religion. However, I agree with you that there is never a reason to be unkind in the midst of disagreements, and the world's religions (and other ideologies) need to learn to interact and disagree in productive ways instead of slaughtering each other.
